Peripheral Nerve Blocks & Radiofrequency

What it is. Peripheral nerves are the nerves outside your brain and spinal cord. If a particular nerve is causing pain, for example because it is trapped, injured or irritated after surgery, local anaesthetic (sometimes with steroid) can be placed next to it. If this helps, a longer-lasting treatment such as radiofrequency can be considered.

Who it may help. People whose pain comes from a specific nerve, such as in the arm, leg, trunk or groin, especially after injury or surgery.
